TNA's mission when founded over 10 years ago was to serve as an advocate for TN patients and their families by providing information, encouraging research and offering support. While maintaining TNA's primary focus on the needs of TN patients, TNA has over the years extended its services to respond to those with other forms of facial pain who have turned to the Association for help. Many of these patients have been diagnosed as having atypical facial pain or atypical trigeminal neuralgia. Many others have residual neuropathic nerve ; facial pain conditions following injury or surgical procedures. For the most part, very few answers have been available to address these needs.
